Henepraz 20mg (Esomeprazole) is a prescription-medication from the class of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It works by blocking the acid (proton) pumps in stomach lining cells, thereby reducing acid secretion which allows healing of acid-related damage in the stomach & oesophagus.
Uses & Indications:

Treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), especially erosive oesophagitis.

Healing and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Reducing symptoms of heartburn, acid regurgitation, and other symptoms of acid overproduction.

May be used in combination with antibiotics for H. pylori eradication (if approved locally).
Dosage & Administration:

The common dose is one 20mg capsule once daily, preferably before the first meal of the day (morning).

Duration depends on the condition: often 4-8 weeks for healing ulcers or oesophagitis; maintenance therapy may be needed for some patients.

Use exactly as prescribed. Do not crush or chew enteric coated formulations.
Precautions & Side Effects:

Possible side effects include headache, abdominal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence.

Rare but serious side effects may include allergic reactions, risk of lowered magnesium, potential B12 deficiency with long-term use.

Avoid use if allergic to PPIs or any component. Use with caution in patients with liver impairment.

Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
