Esofag, with the active ingredient Esomeprazole, is a leading PPI that suppresses stomach acid secretion. It works by inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells — ultimately reducing acid and helping relieve and heal acid-related damage.

Therapeutic Uses:
Esofag 40 mg is commonly prescribed for:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and heartburn relief

  • Healing erosive esophagitis in short-term treatment

  • Managing peptic ulcers and supporting H. pylori eradication protocols

  • Treating Zollinger–Ellison Syndrome and NSAID-associated ulcer prevention

How to Use:

  • Take one 40 mg tablet once daily, preferably at least 1 hour before a meal in the morning.

  • Swallow the tablet whole — do not crush or chew.

  • Continue use for the full course even if symptoms improve.

Side Effects & Precautions:

  • Common side effects: Headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation. Most are mild and transient.

  • Long-term concerns: Extended use may increase risk of low magnesium levels, Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency, and bone fractures. Regular monitoring may be required with chronic use.

  • Use with caution if you have liver or kidney issues. Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound acid hypersecretion.

Storage:
Store below 30 °C (room temperature), keep in a dry place, and out of reach of children.
Esofag is a prescription-only medication. Always consult your healthcare provider before use, especially for long-term conditions.
