Acirab is a branded formulation of rabeprazole 20 mg tablets. It belongs to the class of proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs), which work by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase (acid pump) in the stomach’s parietal cells, thereby significantly reducing the secretion of gastric acid. NAFDAC
Uses & Indications:
Acirab 20 mg is used for:

Treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including erosive and ulcerative forms.

Healing and maintenance of gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Symptomatic relief of heartburn, acid regurgitation, and other acid-related gastrointestinal symptoms.

Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory acid disorder
Dosage & Administration:

Usually 20 mg once daily, preferably taken 30-60 minutes before the first meal of the day. Taking it on an empty stomach maximizes effectiveness.

Duration depends on condition: ulcer healing often requires 4-8 weeks; maintenance therapy or symptom control might continue beyond that under medical supervision.

Storage:
